At Biru Beeru, our work spans interior and architectural design, defined by a signature use of terracotta. Each Biru Beeru residence-whether it is in Solo, Bali, or Jakarta-embodies a harmony of natural wood structures, terracotta elements, and intricate artistic details handcrafted in Solo. The result is a timeless aesthetic that celebrates craftsmanship and place.
Textured Walls
Our terracotta bricks are handcrafted in the villages of Central Java through time-honored traditions. After the rice harvest, when the paddies have dried, fertile soil is shaped with our handmade templates into bricks of various forms. They are then fired in open fields using merang—the dried stalks of rice—giving each piece its organic character. No two bricks are ever the same; every subtle variation reflects the artistry of the handmade process.
This dedication to craft comes to life in our Solo residence, where terracotta defines both façade and interior. Each wall carries a unique tessellated pattern, designed and built brick by brick over many years. The result is more than a home—it is a living work of art, rooted in tradition and elevated through design.
Woodcraft
Another signature of Beeru Beeru Interiors is our woodcraft — decorative wooden elements carved entirely by hand. Each piece is usually crafted from a single wooden panel. Even the most intricate details, such as branches and leaves, are never joined from separate pieces of wood. Everything is carved from one solid block, making each work both technically challenging and truly special.
Our woodcraft includes doors, overdoor carvings, wall partitions, and decorative wooden panels for the home.
Residential Projects
Biru Beeru also undertakes architectural and interior projects across Java and Bali. Drawing from the same design language as our own residences, we combine natural materials, terracotta elements, and handcrafted details to create homes that are both functional and artistic. Every project reflects our commitment to intricacy, craftsmanship, and a timeless sense of place.
